Disclaimer
I NEED every set to be fun for the new owner and to provide the vibe I had when I played with these sets in the 1980’s myself. You want to be building these with a smile on your face matching those of the classic spaceman. When your eye get distracted to a wrong color, torn instruction sheet, highly scratched bricks or a part is missing…I did something seriously wrong.
For this reason I am continuously buying loose manuals as well as loose minifigs which have their own proces of checking and completion in order to be matched to the set. It is time and money consuming but also a labour of love. I do not mind, but it does result in a higher price point than many disappointing sets sold from someones attic. I trust you understand.
All classic space lego sets have gone through the following pre-sales process : In short : Disassembly and inspection on teeth marks and cracks, colors and correct elements used (real / period correct). Minifigs and manual go into stock. Assembly for 2nd inspection and complete color check, teeth marks and condition of prints on the special space elements. Correct and better elements (incl. color match) are interchanged into the set. After another disassembly, there is the refreshing; washing / polishing out heavy scratches, etc. At that point I know exactly what is missing and if not in stock I order parts. I order multiple elements which get color matched to the set. Once the set is complete I grade it and then minifigs and manual are condition matched to the set. Then the set get’s assembled and photographed so you always see pictures of exactly what you are buying. Pictures taken in good lighting condition / daylight studio set up with detailed pictures.
