Large early light weight Chess set K8, made ca. 1900 in England
1 in stock
Nice larger wooden chess set made, probably made in England for it is the St. George style. This is taken mostly from the tulip like shape of the bishop. King size is 8,0 cm or 3 1/4 inches high, base measures ca. 2,4 cm or 1″ in diameter. No markings on the box which has early duck tail joints on the corners but is probably later than the set itself. All pieces are accounted for and vary slightly. Made of very light wood, there are some imperfections to the tips of one bishop and one of the horses seems to be carved by someone else (perhaps replacement but the color and painting matches). All with all a large interesting set which I priced according to condition. Check out the YouTube video below on some vintage chess!
