Hans Przyrembel silver plated Bauhaus Art Deco Coffee and tea set, made in the 1930’s in Germany
Out of stock
This is a handmade coffee and tea set with all 4 items as sold in the 1930’s (there was no tray for this available). Apart from being complete it has a remarkable Art Deco / Bauhaus design, handmade by a well known maker called Hans Przyrembel, which can be found in any book on the Bauhaus design period (1930-1940 in Germany, part of the Art Deco movement). Hans went to the Bauhaus art school and worked as a silver & gold smith in the 1930 before he got drafted in the Second World War as a soldier and never returned.
These items have a very minimalistic yet elegant rounded base shape ending in a point, which makes up the sugar container. The same design is used for the milk can but now with the perfect shaped unique handle added. This design is carried forward in the Tea and Coffee pourers with an added lid (see the rough shape where these were cut by hand) and a black bakelite knob that finishes off the Bauhaus design. Simple yet elegant. All items are nickel plated where only one side of the sugar container shows some wear through to golden base layer (probably brass) -> so never polish this!!!). Condition wise there are no cracks, no dings, no heavy scratches merely some signs of normal use. Selling this as a display item of course. Until sold it will grace my living room. Do check out the below YouTube video explaining the Bauhaus movement.
